An estimated 15% of the world’s population has some form of disability. Creating an accessible environment that attracts and retains diverse talent is integral to our ability to impact learners worldwide.
This year, Pearson has scored 100% on the Disability Equality Index ranking among outstanding companies on the list for Best Places to Work for people with disabilities. This is a marked improvement from 2020 performance.
Our accomplishments are credited to the commitment and dedication of 22,000 Pearson employees. We have strengthened our intentional focus to ensure accessibility is embedded in everything we do both internally and externally. The progress we have made includes taking steps to ensure emotional well-being is a priority and accessibility is a reality. Another example includes implementing product development guidelines, content standards, and enhanced systems for our employees and global community. Many thanks to our accessibility steer-co, Employee Resource Groups, and countless others who contribute to our success.
I am proud to be a part of a company that understands the need to address the complexities people with disabilities experience and invest in ways to increase inclusion efforts. We have made meaningful progress but there is still more to do. Looking forward to the journey ahead.
