Pearson Awarded New Statewide Assessment Contract in Wyoming
HOBOKEN, N.J. - March 26, 2026 - Pearson (FTSE: PSON.L), the world’s lifelong learning company, announced today that the Wyoming Department of Education has selected Pearson to support the development and delivery of the state’s Comprehensive Statewide Assessment System (WY‑SAS) for grades 1–10, providing Wyoming educators with consistent, meaningful measures of student learning across English language arts, mathematics, science, and writing.
The contract award applies to the 2026–2027 assessment cycle and beyond and includes delivery of Wyoming’s existing statewide assessments: the Wyoming Test of Proficiency and Progress (WY‑TOPP) and the WY‑ALT alternate assessments.
Designed to support teaching, learning, and student growth
Features of the Pearson‑supported assessment system include:
- A coherent assessment experience, connecting classroom, interim, and summative assessments; helping educators track learning progress over time.
- Actionable reporting, including role‑based dashboards for teachers and administrators and growth data that supports targeted instruction.
- Accessible materials, including braille and thoughtful design to support learners with diverse needs.
“This is about partnership, and we’re honored to work alongside the Wyoming Department of Education and educators across the state to deliver an assessment system that truly works for Wyoming,” said Trent Workman, Managing Director of Pearson School Assessment, U.S. “Together, we’re focused on building an assessment experience that works in real classrooms; one that feels connected, supports teaching and learning, and reflects what matters most for Wyoming’s students.”
