At Pearson, we’re building a world where everyone is prepared for the future of work and where individuals can connect their skills to new opportunities and better career outcomes. Our new partnership with The Home Depot’s Path to Pro program does this by helping young people work towards rewarding trade careers, and the US construction sector to find the qualified talent it needs.
The US construction sector needs to fill nearly three quarters of a million jobs a year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistcs. With the sector projected to grow over the next decade by nearly 250,000 jobs, finding qualified talent is a problem that needs solving.
Pearson’s Connections Academy, our K-12 online school programme in the US, has partnered with the Path to Pro program of The Home Depot, the US’s largest home improvement retailer to help build a new generation of trade professionals.
The partnership will introduce high school students, their families and recent graduates to The Home Depot’s Path to Pro Skills program designed to prepare participants for a range of trade-based careers, including electrical, drywall, paint, plumbing, HVAC and general construction. Through the Path to Pro Network, they will also be connected to trade professionals and contractors looking to hire early talent.
The Home Depot is the first corporate employer partnership in Connections Academy’s expanded slate of college and career readiness offerings that help students prepare for their next steps after school.
