  3. University+ major: Brooklyn College, CUNY, (Brooklyn, NY)
  4. Personal photo and story behind it: This photo was taken at Brooklyn College’s The Kingsman, one of the campus’ student newspapers. I learned how to be part of a staff at The Kingsman and also made friendships that last to this day. I also remember spending late nights editing the paper while listening to John Coltrane’s Giant Steps.

  1. In school I excelled at: Writing
  2. In school I struggled with: Science
  3. After school you could find me: Working
  4. Troublemaker or Teacher's Pet?: Neither. Even though I was a smart kid, I didn’t like too much attention on myself.
  5. You'd be surprised to learn that in school… I was shy until I hit college.
  6. In high school people thought I would grow up to be a: Writer

  9. First job: A butcher’s assistant. My dad was a kosher butcher for over 30 years. At age 11, he started taking me to work on Sundays.
  10. If I could do any job, it would be: What I’m doing now. I love my career.

  12. If I could have any celebrity as a teacher, I’d pick: Chuck D (Public Enemy)
  13. Today I learn the most from: My daughter. She’s 2.5 but seeing the world through her eyes has widened my perspective on everything.
  14. Do you learn best by reading, listening or doing? Doing.
  15. Best piece of career advice I ever received: Kill’em with kindness.
  16. My personal superpower is: All my ancestors—from the Incas to my parents—pushing me to be the best version of me.
